Set in 1958 Punjab, ‘Dhund’ is a short film directed and written by Sudeep Kanwal that explores the lingering shadows of Partition through the lens of a father-son relationship. The story centres on Santokh Singh, a grieving widower played with quiet intensity by Vipin Sharma, who shares a drink with his son Harmeet for the first time. Sharib Hashmi brings emotional complexity to Harmeet, capturing the unease and unresolved tension simmering beneath their shared silence. What begins as a rare moment of bonding gradually unravels into a powerful confrontation, as long-buried secrets from the past rise to the surface. As truths from the Partition era emerge, ‘Dhund’ becomes a deeply affecting exploration of generational trauma, masculinity, and the fragile threads that hold a family together.

Produced by Shlok Sharma and Navin Shetty, with associate producer Sameer Kamble, ‘Dhund’ boasts a talented crew including cinematographer Malay Prakash, editor Paramita Ghosh, and music composer Lauren Buchter. The film’s meticulous production design and evocative score immerse viewers in a time when the scars of history still lingered.
