Set in the year 2067, ‘Carbon‘ presents a chilling vision of a world where oxygen has become a scarce commodity, and carbon emissions dominate the atmosphere. In this dystopian future, Delhi grapples with the dire consequences of environmental neglect, where breathing clean air is a luxury afforded by the privileged few. The film follows Random Shukla, played by Jackky Bhagnani, a man born with a failed heart, now surviving with an artificial one, who becomes entangled in the black-market trade of oxygen in a desperate bid to escape Earth and reach Mars. Adding further complexity to the narrative is Nawazuddin Siddiqui as a contract killer from Mars, whose presence raises the stakes in an already volatile world.
Directed by Maitreyi Bajpai and Ramiz Ilham Khan, ‘Carbon‘ features Prachi Desai as Pari, an android companion who challenges Random’s perceptions of humanity. Yashpal Sharma portrays Yakub, an aggressive oxygen smuggler who embodies the desperation and moral decay of this future society.
